Our competitions run on Friday nights during Term 4 and Term 1 starting from 5pm, these meetings are held at Dixon Field Reserve, Robertson Road, Gisborne.
The centre is affiliated with Little Athletics Victoria and follows the principles of the competition regulations endorsed by LAVic. More than 22,000 young Victorians participate in Little Athletics with almost 95,000 Little Athletes registered throughout Australia.
By participating in athletics, children will be given the opportunity to participate in a range of activities including running, jumping, throwing and walking. Little Athletics acknowledges participation and self-improvement, not just winning.
Little Athletics promotes, and in fact depends on family participation at all levels. Parents are always needed to help out with the centre program as team managers, officials and helpers.
Our Centre holds a Centre meeting on the first Friday of December and the Annual General Meeting (AGM) is incorporated into the presentation night at the end of the season. All registered members are encouraged to attend these meetings.
At the presentation night, medallions are awarded to children that have registered results in a minimum of half the events for the season. Other awards, including centre champion are awarded on a point's basis allocated though competing in events for each of the recognised program nights, as well as other acknowledged behaviours including good sportsmanship and regional representation.
Our centre actively participates in regional events including the relay and track and field. Notification of these opportunities will be issued via e-mail to all registered members. It is your responsibility to ensure that you notify the competition director prior to the specified closing date of your intent to compete. Parents of nominated athletes will be rostered on to fulfil duties allocated to our centre.
The centre is committed to and operates under the following policies:
